[TERMS OF USE]
A free tool, provided as is. Keep your keys safe — nobody can recover them.
By using CryptFile.Online (the "site") you accept these terms. The site is a personal project published by Vladimir Lorentz, Lyon, France (vladimir.lorentz@gmail.com).
Last updated: 12 October 2026.
[THE SERVICE]
The site provides free tools to encrypt and decrypt files and text inside your web browser. No account is needed. Processing happens on your device; no file or password is sent to the publisher. The service may change, be interrupted or be discontinued at any time without notice.
[YOUR KEYS AND PASSWORDS]
If you lose the password or key used to encrypt a file, the file cannot be recovered. This is how strong encryption works, not a limitation of the site. The publisher never receives your keys and has no way to retrieve them.
You are responsible for storing your keys and passwords safely, for keeping backups of your original files until you have confirmed that the encrypted copy decrypts correctly, and for checking that the tool fits your needs.
[ACCEPTABLE USE]
You agree to use the site lawfully. In particular, you must not use it:
- to access, decrypt or tamper with data you are not authorised to access;
- to conceal, store or distribute illegal content, or as part of extortion or malware;
- to disrupt, overload or attack the site or its hosting infrastructure.
[NO WARRANTY]
The site is provided "as is" and "as available", free of charge, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Although the cryptography uses standard, well-reviewed algorithms and is covered by automated tests, no software is free of defects.
[LIMITATION OF LIABILITY]
To the extent permitted by law, the publisher is not liable for any loss of data, loss of access to encrypted files, unauthorised access to your files, service interruption, or any direct or indirect damage arising from use of, or inability to use, the site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under French law.
[INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY]
The site's design, text, graphics and code are the property of Vladimir Lorentz unless stated otherwise. The .enc file format specification is published so that anyone may implement it. Files you encrypt remain entirely yours.
[THIRD-PARTY SERVICES AND LINKS]
The site displays advertising and links to other websites. The publisher is not responsible for their content or practices. See the privacy policy for the services the site relies on.
[GOVERNING LAW]
These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live. Any dispute that cannot be settled amicably falls under the jurisdiction of the competent French courts.
